Butterfly Play

Well I've taken the weather advice 'not to venture out in this snowy weather' and it was my excuse for a play day in the craft room.

After last weeks sunny days my thoughts had been turning to Spring!  well, we can dream.

I've used Distress crayons, randomly scribbled on a piece of gessoed card, next I removed colour with a baby wipe and a couple of stencils.  Some random stamping with a grid and script stamp to add some interest and a heat embossed sentiment.  The fussy cut butterfly was colours with Distress inks.

I am entering this at Allsorts where the challenge is I Spy something beginning with B, so I think the butterfly fits and  at Country View Crafts - Anything But Cute.  Also at Make My Monday - Messy Backgrounds and this crayon scribble certainly started out very messy.
I love using the crayons, but I always end up with a sore finger - or is that just me?

Well I'm making the most of being 'snowed in' and only venturing into the garden to top up the bird feed.
Avril xx

Wow! This is gorgeous! Love those colours! Good idea to stay put - I think you have more snow than us - my brother rang from Lincoln this morning and they have about 6 inches! We have about 1 and a half!! The snow cameo in onto our walk way and for the first time ever since we had our house we had to clear snow from our door! Hugs,Chrisx

I love this technique Avril, I love how we can control and distort with the touch of a baby wipe!! Your Butterfly looks magnificent upon it. Hope the weather doesn't keep you grounded for too long.

I’ve been using my stencils more lately, but always by applying color. I like this idea of rather removing color with baby wipes so that the pattern is white instead. Great idea and effect!
