My page started with a very rough covering of Gesso before spraying Speckled Egg Oxide and rubbing in places with a tissue. On the lighter side I used Speckled Egg DI to stencil through the TH Gothic stencil. I applied Texture paste through a circle stencil then sprinkled with white EP, which was heated before drying to give a bubbly texture. (really I didn't have time to wait!)
As I planned to colour my flower and add the quote using Aged Mahogany DI, I decided to incorporate this colour into the background using a script stencil. My quote was heat set for more definition.
I hope you will get your stencils out and join us in this fun theme and for more inspiration, the Design Team have some fabulous projects to show on the main blog, so please pop over.
As there's a single flower on my page, I'm joining in the fun over at Art Journey Journal where Orange Esmeralda has chosen this months theme A Single Flower.
Well, things are definitely neglected here in the craft room and I'm sorry I don't get to visit very often, but babies take priority! They had their first injections last week and were a bit fretful from the Rotavirus vaccine, so Grandma felt like she was doing an aerobic exercise class with weights and noise!
I keep telling my daughter she needs to grow an extra pair of hands - they usually want feeding and winding at the same time, twins are lovely, but too much for one.
Today is a day off - yay! so I hope to do some catching up and hopefully some visiting.
Thanks for calling in and have a great day,
Avril xx
This is lovely page and beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteAnother brilliant page Avril -and one of my all time fave sentiments. x
ReplyDeleteThis Single Flower is just beautiful and I like the colour you've used for the petals. These DI paint names are magical, one wants to buy the paints just for the names - "Speckled Egg" and "Aged Mahogany".
ReplyDeleteThe background is terrific too, with the faded words and the stencilling and the great quote.
Thanks very much for joining in with the "Single Flower" theme at AJJ, much appreciated.
Stunning art journal spread Avril! LOVE that background and that single flower just pops! ((HUGS)) to the babies.. and you! Helen
ReplyDeleteWonderful piece, sorry I couldn't join in this time. Perhaps I can make something for next week. Can't do much just now, so this is a generic comment I'm sending to all teamies. Have a great week, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThis page is a beauty Avril, and truly a good example of when less is more. Thanks for joining Sheila at her AJJ challenge also. Hope those twins are doing well after their shots. And you too! Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteSuch an amazing page! The soft background of blue and white looks so pretty with the white stencilling and showcases the flower beautifully 😀. Speckled Egg is one of my favourite colours at the moment (grin!). Glad the twins are doing ok after their injections and that you have a day off to relax, it's sunny here so I hope it is where you are too! Thanks for the inspiration and wishing you a lovely week! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done! I love all the texture. I have NEVER used a stencil and reading about all the steps you did to make such a beauty, it looks like I won't be doing this anytime soon!

What a fabulous combination those colours are! The textured background looks wonderful and is perfect for your flower!
ReplyDeleteTwins certainly are a handful. I had three boys aged under 5, fortunately their needs were all different!
Hope you get some more time in your craft room soon! Hugs, Chrisx
Fabulous texture on your journal page, it works perfectly with the stamping and focal image.

A beautiful page with the flower and the fabulous background and saying. Have a beautiful day, hug Elke
ReplyDeleteThe red is so striking again the white Avril and what a great idea adding EP to the texture paste to give a different finish, must remember to try that one.

Hi Avril, hope you're well. Fabulous journal page. Amazing texture from the bubble stencil, and I love all the little inky details in the background. Gorgeous contrast from the flower to ..... love it!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful page Avril, I love the single flower and the quote you used. The stencil background with the soft colours you used is lovely.

Adorable MM and most gorgeous design. Sorry if I missed a post, got family here and they are out shopping....so am catching up as much as I can ♥
ReplyDeleteAnother great TioT challenge and a beautiful display of texture for your single flower to bloom. Love it. Yes babies always come first but I can well imagine twins can be a double handful, I always felt I had twins having my last two only 16 months apart, they grow so fast, enjoy every moment and those cat naps and cold tea in between. Hugs Tracey xx
ReplyDeleteA beautiful page, lovely art.
ReplyDeleteHope the twins are doing well and have settled after their vaccinations.
All the best Jan

ReplyDeleteSounds like you had your hands full too! X
