Merry Christmas

I wonder where the man in the red suit is?  He seems to have abandoned his reindeer and the contents of his sleigh!

I bought this MDF kit a couple of months ago and I've been working on it in between the 12 Tags, it's now ready and waiting, so this seemed a good time to show it.

I'd just like to Wish Everyone A Merry Christmas and  a 'Thank You'  for visiting and for all the lovely comments you've left over the last year, I really do appreciate you taking the time to visit.

Hoping you have a Wonderful and Peaceful  Christmas and I hope 2018 will be a good year for Everyone.

Well I made it - Last 2

Yes, I've made it, the last 2 tags inspired by Linda Coughlin's 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style which is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique

This is my take on Week 5

I didn't have the log background stamp that Linda used, but loved the idea of the logs, so I've used a TH Woodgrain stencil with Vintage Photo DI and then blended VP over the tag.  I've used a TH Santa and offset and added clear embossed holly, although I kept my berries red.  I added the label from the Correspondence set.

Last but not Least - Week 9

Week 9's inspiration came from the little winter scene Linda created and the Chipped Sapphire sky.  I had masked off the bottom of the tag and used CS ink as I don't have the paint, I used Chunky White embossing instead of splattering with paint. For my tree I added Moon Glow embossing powders Silver Moon and Midnight Teal to try and create Linda's enamelled look, the deer was lightly inked with Versamark and I lightly sprinkled the copper embossing powder, again trying to create an enamelled look.  The greeting was die cut with silver glitter card.

So pleased I made it, I know there's another few days left to link up but I know I'll not have much time for crafting, so today was really deadline day.

Thanks for calling in, and I'll do some catching up now.

More Funkie Junkie Tags

Another two tags completed for Linda' Coughlin's 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style which is Sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique, all the details of this challenge can be found here.

Week 10

Apart from the snowflakes, I didn't have any of the other supplies that Linda used, but I loved the snowflake on the wreath with the berry foliage  and the embossed background, all highlighted with silver.  I've used the Holiday Script stencil with embossing paste, covered it with gesso and then inking and spritzing and dabbing and then highlighting the words with a silver wax.  The snowflake and berry sprig were cut from white glitter card and again highlighted with silver wax.

My take on  Week 11  Again I didn't have any of the supplies that Linda used on this tag, but took my inspiration from the central double layer wrapped band.

I did paint my tag background with gesso before applying Tumbled Glass through a snowflake stencil, then I brushed Perfect Pearls over the inked snowflakes and although the gesso was dry, it did seem to give the whole tag a shimmer.  My snowflake uses 3 layers of white and silver glitter paper, the top layer being shaded with the Tumbled Glass, a few crystals and a silver glittered word.  I gave the tag a bit extra body by layering it on a piece of cream pearl card, which isn't white as it looks in the photo!

Well there's only 2 more to go, so I think I might make it,

Funkie Junkie Catchin Up

I'm still on my mission to complete the 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style and have been trying to catch up this week as time's running out.    If you've missed my previous posts, all the details of Linda's tags are here, and this challenge is being sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique, so there's also the chance of a prize.

This is my take on Week 3

When I first saw this tag my first thought was a Christmas Stocking, maybe it was the red/white stripes and white trim.  I downloaded a template from the internet, and although I don't have the stripes I do have a stamp.  I've used white glitter for the toe and heel and cut the Merry Christmas in both white and red and offsetting.  I also left the top open so I can fit some money in.

For my take on Week 7 I've used the Plaid background stamped in Fired Brick, my frame was heat embossed with various Moon Glow powders and I pressed a rubber stamp into it while still hot.  The sentiment is an old Anna Griffin stamp inked with Fern Green Archival.  Some Festive Greens and a shabby bow stained with Fired Brick Stain.

Way behind, but here's Week 12

I loved the retro look to this tag and have tried to keep to similar colours and replicating the 'advert' with a  with this Tim Holtz stamp.  I coloured the stamp with Distress Markers and lots of 'huffing' and although it took a few attempts, came out great with the help of the stamp platform - what did we do without it!

Well that's another 3 - only 4 more to go!

I know I've been a hopeless visitor, but no doubt like everyone, time's short, so the only way I can get these tags completed is to be very disciplined when I do have some crafty time - and craft.

Have a great day and if you've called in, thank you.

Twinkle

Just a little reminder that you've still got one week left to enter the last challenge of the year at Try it on Tuesday which is Twinkle Twinkle and I'm sure you all have some crafty Twinkling going on.

I've decorated a used candle globe, I saw something similar on Pinterest and as Crafty friend had just bought this little village scene die, I borrowed it and cut it in white glitter card.  I attached it on the outside of the glass with matt medium, so simple, but lovely lit

Thanks for calling in at this busy time,

Celebrate!

It's time for our last challenge of the year at Fashionable Stamping and this time it was my turn to choose the theme and I chose Celebrate which gives you lots of scope - Christmas, New Year, Birthdays.  There's lots of other reasons too, it's up to you as long as the stamping fits the theme.

I've used the Tim Holtz Plaid stamp for my background and inked with Aged Mahogany.  I've used one of my favourite Santa images, stamping with Potting Soil ink and coloured with Distress inks.  I've added some festive greenery, again coloured with DIs.

The rest of the team have some great inspiration, so please pop over to the blog, where you will also find all the details, along with information about our sponsor Ink Art Designs.

Thanks for calling in, I do appreciate it especially as everyone is so busy at this time of the year.
Have a great day,

Week 8 of 12 Tags

Hello, still playing catch up on the 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style, which is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique, and this is my take on Week 8

I loved the background and followed Linda's technique but used Brushed Pewter paint over the gessoed snowflakes.  I decided to keep to the blue/silver tones and cut and embossed the TH snowflake.  I painted it silver and then dabbed silver embossing ink and silver EP, heat setting to give some texture.  I did the same with the die cut sentiment.

I don't know where this week has gone, I really did intend to do a serious catch up - must try harder in future!

Have a lovely weekend,

Twinkle Twinkle

Time for the new challenge at Try it on Tuesday and the theme for this fortnight is 'Twinkle Twinkle'  as usual it's up to you what you make.

I've opted for another Christmas card, I started with a torn hilly mask half way down my card and added a circle mask for the moon, coloured with Stormy sky and Chipped Sapphire.  I stamped and heat embossed some 'twinkling' silver stars before layering my die cuts.  I've also added a couple of torn layers of glitter paper for 'twinkly' snow.

The rest of the DT have some great makes, so please pop over to the main blog for all the details.

Have a great day,

Funkie Snowflakes

Well I'm even further behind than I'd planned with my Funkie Junkie tags as we've been away for a couple of days for a friends wedding, we had a lovely time, but I really must try to catch up now.
This is my take on Linda's tag for Week 6

I loved the look of this and thought it would make a great gift card holder.  I've cased Linda's design, even down to having some red snowflake paper and some sparkly red spot foil.  My little quote was  made on the computer and although it doesn't look like it, it was printed out in red.

You've still got time to join in with this challenge and it's a great way of getting some Christmas cards/tags made and there's even a chance of winning a $25 gift certificate from The Funkie Junkie Boutique

Thanks for calling in,

Oh Christmas Tree

I'm definitely a girl on a mission -  this is my take on Tag No. 4 of 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I loved Linda's holly background and used the TH holly stencil and Distress inks after randomly stamping a music score.  I die cut 2 trees, coloured one with Iced Spruce and Forrest Moss and layered them slightly offsetting to create a white 'snowy' outline. My stamped Christmas tree image is an old Inkadinkado stamp.
One of the great things about this challenge is that you can enter them in any order as long as you complete the 12, which is just as well as no. 3 is still in the think tank!

I'm entering this at Allsorts - Inspired by a Carol or Winter themed song (Oh Christmas Tree)

No. 2 of 12 Tags of Christmas

I'm on a roll, I've finished my second of the 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie style  sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I made mine a card and took inspiration from Linda's gorgeous embossed background, and used a Jenny Bowlin Mini North Star stencil, when the paste and gesso was dry, I used Vintage photo to distress the edges and then Enchanted Gold wax over the stars and around the edges. My Santa from Artistic Outpost, was stamped with Potting soil archival on a Nestabilities oval frame cut from linen card for a shabby look.  I added a few glittery snowflakes and a cut apart embossed sentiment.

I'm on a mission to see if I can get another one finished today.

I am entering this at:

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style

Yes, I'm late, but I'm earlier than last year when I started playing along with the 12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style,  a weekly challenge sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique
who are offering a prize of $50 and two runner up prizes of $25 to spend in the store.

Each week starting in September,  Linda posts an inspirational tag and this is my take on Week 1.
I was inspired by Linda's use of  the trees in the background and the deer, along with the foliage and sentiment at the top of her tag.

I've used the Tim Holtz Winter Tree Line to create the background and then the splatter stencil with embossing paste, sprinkling white glitter over while still wet.  I've defined my hill and foreground with Diamond Dust.

Well it's a start and a start on the Christmas cards - I'm so late this year!

Hopefully I'll get some time over the weekend to play catch up, Linda's up to week 9, so 8 behind!!

I am going to enter this at:

Colourful Life

Hello, it's time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday and this fortnight the theme is 'Colourful' and as always, it's up to you how you interpret this.

I've used Rubber Dance Dancing Lady, stamped in Black Versafine onto an Oxide ink background.  The base layer was from the same batch, but with lots of added water for a paler effect.  I've used a French script stamp and used the Tim Holtz floral stencil, with Distress inks.  The sentiment was computer generated.

The rest of the DT have some fabulous inspiration for you, so please pop over to the main blog, where you will also find all the details.

Have a great day,

Life's Aims

Hello,  well this little blog has been a bit quite again, not much crafting going on -  but this time I've been off enjoying a little break to Budapest, it's such a beautiful place, with lots to do and see.

I really must make a start on making some Christmas cards  - but before I do, I've another journal page to share, again using an image from Oxford Impressions April in Paris.  This little girl looks so sweet - her life before her, what will her future hold?  Random stamping with the TH Papillion background (I know it's difficult to see) embossing paste through the Doily stencil, doily die cut and cut apart stamped words, all coloured with Distress crayons.

It's time to tidy the craft desk and make a start on those Christmas cards or I'll end up buying!

Thanks for calling in,

There's a great prize for one lucky random winner from our Sponsor,  Ink Art Design.

Home Sweet Home

Hello,  it's time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday and this fortnight, its Home Sweet Home, as usual it's up to you what you make as long as you follow the 'Home' theme.

I've opted for a New Home card, I had a browse on Pinterest and saw this sweet card and took inspiration from the little house.  I used embossing paste through a brick stencil, when it was dry gave it a coat of watery gesso before using Antique Linen Distress Crayon, the roof and door shapes were coloured with crayons.

The rest of the DT have some great inspiration for you, so please pop over to the main blog for all the details.

Hopes and Dreams

Hello, more experimenting in my new little journal, again using the stamps from Oxford Impressions April in Paris.  I gave both pages a very watery wash with Tattered Rose distress stain and used Pumice stone for the stencilling and shading and distress crayons for colouring the stencilled roses and leaves.

Autumn Serenity

Hello,

I'm over on the Artistic Outpost blog today with this Autumn Tag.

This is my last piece for Artistic Outpost, and I have enjoyed my time on the Design Team, but life just seems to be a bit busy lately.

Timeless

Hello, and thanks for calling in and it's something different, although still in my favourite vintage style.  I've been lacking in inspiration since coming back from holiday, so hubby suggested 'try something different'  so I've started a journal.   It's only 11 x 16cm so there's no stress to fill a large page and I thought a good opportunity to use some neglected rubber.

As the current them at TioT is Circles, and there's still have another week left to link up,  I took inspiration from that.  The image is from Oxford Impressions April in Paris plate.  I used a watery wash of Bundled Sage distress stain and Frayed Burlap distress crayon for the circles and edges, and Tarnished Brass highlights.

I must  admit I really did enjoy making this page and it did de-stress for a couple of hours - at the moment I've got a 'gremlin' in the computer who calls in frequently and opens and closes tabs while I'm busy and then locks me out for a couple of hours, and typical - my computer is just a couple of months out of guarantee.  If he sticks around  and I go missing, you'll know he's won!

Have a great day,
Avril xx

Hocus Pocus Treats

Hello, it's  almost time for trick or treat and although I don't particularly celebrate Halloween one of hubby's friends wife is American and she decorates their house every year.  I always send a card and this year I made a little treat box, which I filled with die cuts, plastic spiders and candy.

I recycled a tea bag box, painting top and bottom with black and then covering with spider's Web paper before adding the witch and web die cut.

Just a quick fun project that I'm linking to Yvonne's give away.

Going round in Circles at TioT

Hello,

It's time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday and this fortnight we're Going Round in Circles

I  made a page in my colourful journal that I started after doing the Marjie Kemper Inventive Ink online course.

I stamped the circles with white Colourbox ink and embossed with  white EP, before stamping the bee from Inkylicious.  These were masked before adding colour to the background with Distress inks, then stamping the wording.  The bees were coloured and Stickles added to the wings. to the wings.

The rest of the DT have some wonderful inspiration for you, so please pop over to the main blog, where you will also find the challenge details.

Spooky Goings On at Try it on Tuesday

Hello, yes, it's that time of the year when we get in the mood for Halloween at TioT.

I've made a card using a witch die cut, cut from some shiny black card along with a cauldron image I found on the internet, which I coloured with Promarkers.  I used Distress Inks for the background and added some stars cut from Brushed Pewter stained white and black card.  A torn piece of die cut and some  'spiders web' - that stuff's got a mind of it's own - and then my plastic spider - yuk - I don't like spiders.  As my Witch is cooking up something strange, a computer sentiment.

The rest of the DT have some wonderful inspiration for you, so please pop over to the blog to see their spooky creations.

Another scheduled post, so thanks for calling in.

Time Waits for No Man at Fashionable Stamping

Hello,  this is a scheduled post as I couldn't miss telling you about the new challenge at Fashionable Stamping and for this fortnight Shirley chose the theme of  'Time Waits for No Man'

I've used two old Crafty Individual stamps for my card.  I stamped the Gent and cogs stamp directly onto an Oxide inked background, masked the image before stamping the clocks label as a background.  I also stamped the image onto white card, fussy cut the gent and then using Versamark and Clear EP, heat embossed.  The sentiment was printed on the computer and coloured with the Oxides.

The rest of the team have some great inspiration for you, so please pop over to the main blog, where you will also find all the challenge details.  We have InkArt as our sponsor who are offering one lucky random winner a stamp from their online store.

Have a lovely day whatever you're doing,

Autumn Glory

Hello,  a couple of weeks ago I was lucky and won the challenge at Stamping Sensations and they asked if I would like to join them as a Guest Designer for their October Autumn Glory challenge

I've used a Flonzcraft stamp, stamped in Black and heat embossed with clear EP.  I started with Fossilized Amber, Wilted Violet, Seedless Preserves and Rusty Hinge DIs to colour my layers.
The base layer was  stamped with a small leaf from Artistic Outpost using Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo.

The DT at Stamping Sensations have some wonderful inspiration for you, so why not pop over to the blog for all the details.

We're off  on holiday on Tuesday, so things will be a little quiet around here, but there are a couple of scheduled DT posts lined up.  I need to to start the packing now, but whatever you're doing, have a great day.

Party Time

Hello, it's time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday and for this fortnight the theme is 'Time/Clocks'

I've used the Tim Holtz Alarm clock coloured with Brushed Pewter and Tarnished Brass stains and added a  clock face from the Thrift Shop Ephemera pack. The background was made using Oxide inks and with such a pretty dress on my little paper doll, it just had to be Party Time, which was printed on the computer.

Leave a little sparkle

Hello, and thanks for calling in,  I've another card to share using my new Rubber Dance stamp.  This time I've fussy cut the lady from the background, coloured her with Distress Crayons and matted her onto a piece of Oxide coloured card and lightly stamped the Tim Holtz Papillion background adding some faux stitching.  The base card uses the first and less watered application of the inks.

The sentiment was printed on the computer, I also added Frosted Lace stickles over the word Sparkle. then added some die cut wildflowers, again, coloured with Distress Crayons.

As I'm using my Rubber Dance stamp, I'm going to enter this at Rubber Dance Forever Stamping Challenge.

I'm also entering The Artistic Stampers challenge - Take a Little Colour

Do What you Love

Hello, I've not had much inspiration or time in the craft room lately, but as I've got four 'girly' birthdays this month, it's given me the push to get my act together and get organised.  As a little incentive to get  motivated, I bought this Dancing Woman stamp from Rubber Dance and she's been well inked this last week.

The card base had already been embossed with crackle paste through the Flourish stencil and was in the 'bits box' so I dipped it in Worn Lipstick, Fossilized Amber and Antique Linen DOX.  I used Brushed Pewter Distress paint and my trusty finger over the embossed cracks - which gave it a look of Mother of Pearl!  The stamped panel was a mop up piece, again in the bits box, that must have mopped up some Brushed Pewter stain along the way as it has a lovely sheen,  I used Worn Lipstick DI to emphasise her dress and Wilted Violet to the flowers.  The sentiment is computer.  I used a dull silver card to mat.

I am entering this at:
Rubber Dance Forever Stamping Challenge - Anything Goes
Rubber Dance - September colour challenge

 Challenge 1.-14. Sept.

Thanks for visiting and hopefully I'll get caught up on blog visiting over the weekend.

Show us Some Stitching at TioT

Hello, it's time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday and this fortnight  it's 'Stitch It'  and as usual it's up to you what you make as long as there's some stitching - real or faux.

I haven't used my Dress form die for a long time, so this was a great opportunity.  I cut 2 from white card, stained the base and top of one with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide, the other was trimmed to leave just the body, to which I glued some printed linen and trimmed to shape.

The DP was trimmed and pieced and I machine stitched the border, I used a Rose stencil with DIs and then stamped and clear embossed the G 45 and Tim Holtz words.

The rest of the DT have some fabulous inspiration for you, so please pop over to the main blog for all the details.

Hello, the current challenge at Try it on Tuesday is 'In My Garden' and I took the opportunity to ink up another flower, this time I've used Tim Holtz's Flower Garden stamps.

Lessons for Life

Hello, I don't know about you, but I'm a bit of a messy crafter.  However,  fortunately for the craft room, my friend comes over most Thursdays and I have to tidy to make room for her which means the 'box of bits' keeps getting bigger. I try to use them up from time to time and always feel good if I can make a dent - no matter how small, so here goes...

This crackle background was the 'try' when I first got DecoArt Crackle Paint, applying different thicknesses and after drying this was too good to throw, so in the box it went.  I've now used Distress Sprays Tumbled Glass and Chipped Sapphire and just left it to dry in the cracks and added some stencilling for interest.  These sentiments  had been stamped for something else, so I cut them apart and rearranged and also cut apart my little Paper doll boy as his friend/brother looked a bit timid for what I had in mind.  He reminds me of my son, not in looks but whenever we took a picture of him and said 'smile' he always stood to attention!

I am going to enter this at Tag Tuesday as their theme is Use Your Scraps.

Have a lovely day,

In My Garden at TioT

Hello, it's time to tell you about the new challenge at Try it on Tuesday and for this fortnight it's   'In My Garden'

I decided to use my new Paper Artsy Kay Carley stamps.  I stamped with Black Archival and heat set with Clear EP,  I also stamped a couple of masks on post-it notes so I could layer the flowers.  Leaving the masks in place, I coloured the background with Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Broken China and then sprinkled on PA Infusions In the Navy.  Unfortunately a little of the Infusions sneaked under the mask, but after colouring the flowers, it didn't really spoil.  The sentiment is from a Jofy set.

It would be lovely to see what's in your garden, so why not join in.  The rest of the DT have some great inspiration for you, so please pop over to the main blog, where you'll also find all the details.

Use Your Inks at Fashionable Stamping

Hello, it's time for a new challenge at Fashionable Stamping and this time Dot has chosen 'Use Your Inks' and you can use them anyway as long as you use them to stamp as well.
The prize for the Lucky random winner will be a stamp from our Sponsor Ink Art Designs.

For the background of my card I took inspiration from Brenda who made this tag a while ago.  I loved the background, and as I've had this stamp from Crafty Individuals for quite a while (un-inked), thought it might be something to try for my  'inky'  piece.  I used Antique Linen, Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac  and Stormy Sky DIs and spritzed and dripped with water.   Then stamped randomly using two colours,  I used Frayed Burlap and Dusty Concord.

My butterfly was stamped with Black Archival and I watercoloured with Fossilized Amber DI, when it was dry I applied a little Frosted Lace stickles and rubbed over with my finger, which just left a feint shimmer.  I decided on the position of  the butterfly and then stamped the antennae with black so that I didn't have to fussy cut this part.  I masked off part of the sentiment and again stamped with the two inks.

The base layer was distressed with inks and then a script stamp using Frayed Burlap.

The rest of the Design Team have some wonderful inspiration for you, so please pop over to the main blog, where you will also find all the challenge details.

I am entering this at:
Penny Black and More - All Creatures Great and Small
  Stamping Sensations - Anything Goes
Emerald City Crafts - Anything Goes

And just for fun - I decided to used similar colours to Brenda's tag, love how this turned out too.

Thanks for calling in, have a great day,
