Inspired by a Song/ or Carol

The new challenge at Try it on Tuesday this fortnight is Inspired by a Song/Carol.

Can you guess mine?

Sleigh Ride - although it was the line 'It's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you' and I was amazed at how many cover versions there are - here's a link to one.

I've used  Tim Holtz Retro Christmas and built up my snowy scene after stamping the sleigh.

The rest of the DT have some fabulous songs/carols inspirations for you, so please visit the main blog where you will also find all the challenge details.

This is a schedule post as I'm hopefully enjoying some sunshine and a cold drink to celebrate a rather special birthday for hubby!

Have a great day, whatever you're doing,
Avril xx

White Christmas

Hello and thanks for calling in, I've been a bit of an absent blogger as I needed to get a wiggle on and get some Christmas cards made, and this one fits in as a reminder that you still have another week to enter the current challenge at Try it on Tuesday, which is Cold, Cold, Cold.

I'd bought some Christmas napkins a few weeks ago.

I've used the sky and trees as my background and stamped the small log cabin from Inkylicious and some small deer and a silver embossed sentiment.  Of course, it's cold and snowing so there's some Frantage there as well.  The added bonus is I get four backgrounds from one napkin!

I am entering this at
Penny Black & More where the challenge is Christmas
Country View Challenge - Hand Stamped (although there's a napkin background, everything else is    hand stamped
and also at Addicted to Stamps - Anything Goes

Have a great day,

Brrrr It's Cold, Cold, Cold!

It's time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday and this fortnight we're challenging you to get
Cold, Cold, Cold.  A good opportunity to start making those Christmas cards!

I've used two old favourites from  Crafty Individuals and added the little deer and some extra trees to make the scene, which were magazine freebies.  I've used Distress inks for the colouring and sponged Chipped Sapphire for the sky.

The rest of the DT have some wonderful inspiration for you, so please pop over to the main blog for all the details.

I am entering this at
Addicted to Stamps - Anything Goes
Country View Challenges - Hand Stamped

Thanks for calling in,
Avril xx

Fragrant Poppies

Hello,  I really need to be making a start on some Christmas cards!  I did have a little time yesterday and made a start sifting through the Christmas stamps and deciding which ones to use and then realised I'd made such a mess there was no space to do anything, anyhow, while  tidying up I came across this card that was made a few weeks ago, but never blogged - and now seemed like a good time.

The background was made following a technique in Craft Stamper a couple of years ago - a piece of fern laid on cardstock and then spritzed with distress stain - I think this article had also used the beetroot juice!  When dry, remove the fern which had acted like a mask, you can just make out the white fern shape beneath the poppy.  I've also splattered some other inks too.  The sentiment is from the same AALL & Create set.

Thanks for calling in and I'll be around soon to catch up.

Let it Snow!

The challenge at Tag Tuesday this fortnight is Anything Goes and although I'm a bit late - I thought this would giver me the 'push' I need to start thing about Christmas Cards.

A good start to get the motivation going - A gift tag.  The background is a scrap from last year inked and then sprayed with Brushed Pewter stain, the Tim Holts Snowman, coloured and rubbed over with Star Dust stickles, die cut trees and hillside from glitter paper, and the sentiment was embossed with a silver sparkle EP - the only time of the year these get used!

Not much crafting this week, we're off tomorrow for a city break - I can see I'll be buying Christmas cards this year!!!
