Shernocky DT post

Hi and welcome to another DT post for Shernocky Crafts.

This month we have been using the lovely Graphic 45 Bird Song  papers as part of our DT pack.  Today sees me using the leftover scraps from my first project.  I have had this  slide mailer in my stash for ages, and I do think they lend themselves to 'oriental'
I started by painting it black before adding my papers, which were layered onto gold card.

The inside, uses one of the scenes and to compliment the blue, I cut a piece of floral border, again matted with gold. ( I took the photo before adding the glass slide to avoid the camera glare)
If you pop over to Shernocky Crafts Blog, there are some wonderful projects by the rest of the very talented DT, to give you plenty of inspiration .  If  you live in the area, the shop has a wonderful selection of craft supplies and their online store will be up and running soon.

It's 'Happy' at Alphabet Challenge!

Hello and welcome, lovely to see you visiting.
It's time for another Alphabet Challenge and its the letter 'H' and this time its Team B's turn and Shaz  has chosen 'Happy', so as long as we see 'Happy' on your cards, the choice is yours!

I needed to make an Anniversary card, I used white pearl card for my base and I embossed the Tim Holtz Bookcover EF onto the same pearl card.  I cut a mat and a scalloped oval Nesti from a shell pink pearl card. The sentiment, which was computer generated, was printed onto the pearl card, flowers and a blace Marianne swirl to complete.

I hope you will join us with your 'Happy' cards.

On the Wild Side at Try it on Tuesday!

Hello -  three posts in three days!   and this time I'm back with my piece for the new challenge at Try it on Tuesdays which is 'On the Wild Side'  My tag isn't very wild I agree, but as long as you include an animal or bird thats fine, but don't forget  the rules - you can only enter 5 challenges including ours.

For my tag I used Crafty Individuals CI320, which was stamped onto a tag, previously coloured with Peacock feathers, Iced Spruce and Victorian Velvet Distress Inks, the floweres were also coloured with VV.  My little word stickers are from Tim Holtz Stuff to Say, stamped onto vellum, torn and inked with VV.  The crinkle ribbon was dyed with VV.
We would love you to join us, and if you need any inspiration, then my very talented teamies have a very varied variety to show, so please pop over here and take a look.

Box Clever!

Hi and welcome to my 2nd project  for Shernocky Crafts and for the month of May we are still in Oriental mode using the lovely Graphic 45 Bird Song papers which are available from the lovely vintage Craft Shop based in Altrincham, Cheshire.
I decided to alter another box, this time just using the papers.  I absolutely adore this black and gold Willow Pattern and knew straight away that I wanted to create the look of a black lacquered box.

I started with a silver hinged box,
painted all the sides with  Gold Adirondack Paint Dabber, and then began to cut and measure the paper to fit top and all the sides

I punched 2 holes in each of the top side pieces to allow the gold hinges to show.
The bottom of the box was covered with a plain black cardstock.

I chose the butterfly paper for the inside rather than one of the more colourful papers, as I wanted to keep the antique lacquered look .

A bit of a different look from me, and no embellishments, but I think these papers don't need anything for the style of box I was trying to create.

Ingredients used:  Graphic 45 Bird Song Papers 8 x 8
                              Crafters Companion Tape Runner
All available from Shernocky Crafts, Altrincham, Cheshire.

Before I go, I would just like to say 'hello' to my new followers, its lovely to see you.

Fashionable Alterations!

Hi and welcome to a new challenge at Fashionable Stamping, and this time we would love to see your 'alterations', but don't forget, as we are a stamping challenge we still need to see some stamping.  We are again sponsored by Flonzcraft who are offering a random winner a $20 gift cert. to spend in their online store.
A few weeks ago you might remember I made a book cover following this tutorial, and I have been wanting to try the technique again, decided on a refresher but for some reason the video wouldn't play after about 30 mins.  so I improvised!  -  I missed out the black layer, and did a bit more spraying!!  Still love the results.

I almost forgot to take a picture of 'before'!

I wanted roughly the same colours as before, but this time I also used Perfect Pearls Forever Violet mist, and instead of finishing with a dry brushed layer of white to highlight, I used Adirondack Gold paint, and then Aquamarine Treasure Gold over the top.

For the inside, as we are a stamping challenge I made my own papers to line the box.  I used Distress inks, Tumbled Glass, Dusty Concord, Iced Spruce and Wild Honey, and then spritzed with water, love this effect. The stamps are Tim Holtz,  and Inkylicious branches that my butterfly is escaping from, I also used  Crafters Workshop masks with Embossing paste for the script and the butterflies on the side panels.

My very talented teamies have some wonderful alterations to show you, so please pop over here for some wonderful inspiration.

Thank you for all your lovely comments lately, I really do appreciate them, especially as I haven't had much time to return them this week - I have made the Wedding Cake - 4 tiers, plus 1 extra just in case there isn't enough!    DD has finally made her mind up on the Invitations, so  a start has been made there too.

Have a great Sunday whatever you're doing.

Oriental!

Hello - would you like to know my news?

A few weeks ago I was approached by Shirley Foster of Shernocky Crafts asking if I would like to be part of a new Design Team she was organising.  Well......it would be rude to say no, so here I am with my first post.
                                       Shernocky Crafts

My first project is using the lovely Graphic 45 Bird Song papers, and I decided to make an easel card.

I fussy cut around one of the images so that the butterfly looked as if it was flying away, before  matting and layering with black card and another of the gorgeous papers.  I kept the design quite simple as I didn't want to detract from the lovely  image and papers.
I have had some Mizuhiki cord for a long time and had only used it once, so out came the instructions and I made the Abalone Shell knot, this does look more complicated than it is.

For the inside I fussy cut part of the border from an image sheet (joining under the scroll as these papers are 8" x 8").  The sentiment was stamped and layered using a Nestabilities Label die,( I'm not sure of the make of the stamp, sorry)  I added a little coin charm to match the one on the front of the card.

If you live in the area, do please call into the shop as they have a beautiful selection of goodies and they also run craft workshops.  An online service is in the process of being set up, more news of that later.

Enjoy whatever you do,

Feminine and Fancy at TioT

Hello and welcome to another challenge at Try it on Tuesday and this time its Feminine and Fancy.

I also added a lace curtain to the 'interior' of my shop.

The rest of the DT have some fabulous feminine projects for your inspiration, and we also have a new team member joining us - Valerie, so please pop over here to see their wonderful feminine creations.

The Many Faces of a Woman!

Hi and welcome to another Fashionable Stamping Challenge and this time it's up to you to show us what you can create as its 'Anything Goes'.  Again we are sponsored by Flonzcraft who are offering one random winner a $20 gift certificate for their online store.

I decided to use my Cabinet card die and create these frames, which are held together with ribbon.  My images are Gibson Girls from Flonzcraft, which  just needed to be lightly coloured , so I used  Distress inks.  I embossed the cardstock before cutting, and then distressed with Spun Sugar, Bundled Sage, Tumbled Glass Distress inks,  and then grunged it up with Frayed Burlap.    I did think about adding flowers, as the images are so feminine, but then took them off - did I do right?  The words are Tim Holtz, stamped in Weathered Wood.  Sorry for the poor photos, it was a nightmare to photograph for some reason!

It would be great if you could join us, and if you need any inspiration,  then my fabulous teamies have some wonderful creations to show, so please pop over here and take a look.
