Hi folks,
I don't know about you, but after a holiday I sometimes loose track of time in the month, I had intended this project to be for Fathers Day inspiration but.........well that has been and gone! So it's now for a 'male birthday card and gift.
In my June DT pack for Shernocky Crafts was some lovely jute trim and some PaperArtsey Fresco Finish paint in Taupe. Taking that as a staring point, I cut a 2" piece of jute, spread some paint onto a craft sheet and stamped a background onto some brown cardstock with paint.
To keep all colours the same, I painted a piece of cardstock with the Taupe for backings and also a border on my card base.
The jute was attached to the painted cardstock (with a Crafters Companion Tape runner, included in last months kit - it stuck really well and doesn't show), then adhered to the card, before adding the sentiment.
My image, started as one of the flower stamps (PaperArtsey Hot Picks HPXT02) stamped in Black Archival. I die cut and embossed it with a circle Nesti. I then stamped with Versamark, and heat embossed with clear EP, twice, for a lovely glossy finish. I cut a larger mat from the painted cardstock and heat embossed this too.
For the bookmark, I cut a square of cardstock 5" x 5" and scored this at 2 1/2"
Cut out one of the squares and, opposite the corner you have cut away, cut that square on the diagonal (if you wanted, you could also use some fancy scissors on this edge).
Apply d/sided tape to one square on the reverse, then fold and stick. Decorate as required.
I used the same technique of heat embossing with one of the smaller flower stamps and a scalloped circle for a mat. I also added an extra scalloped circle of brown cardstock for strength before attaching to my
bookmark.

That's it for now, and thanks for looking, I do appreciate it. I am still trying to get back to normal with visiting your lovely blogs, but time is a bit limited at the moment as Wedding Invitations are taking over a lot of my 'spare' time, so appologies if I miss any of your lovely creations.

Build up the pattern by pressing the jute 'inked' with paint , randomly onto cardstock.
To keep all colours the same, I painted a piece of cardstock with the Taupe for backings and also a border on my card base.

Terrific 'male' card Avril. The jute stamping is super and the double clear EP gives lovely gloss. The bookmark looks brilliant too. Nicola x
