Children

Hello, it's time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday and for this fortnight the theme is Children
As always, it's up to you how you interpret this - something for a child, something featuring children, there's lots of possibilities.
I came across this quote in my stash and thought it just seemed right to go with these two young girls who look as if they are about to leave their childhood behind and embark upon a new chapter in their lives.
I used a piece of greyboard for my wall hanging, I gave it a coat of Gesso before applying PaperArtsy Taupe and then Mermaid paint, which was rubbed over with a baby wipe.  There's also bits of stenciling done with Snowflake, although most of it got covered up.
I added some embroidered antique lace that I've hoarded forever, and some tiny tattered florals, keeping to the colours of the embroidered flowers on the lace.  I also added more antique lace and some vintage pearl buttons, which are probably from the same era as the photo!
The rest of the DT have some great inspiration for you, so please pop over here, where you will find all the details.
Thanks for visiting, as always, I do appreciate it.

Stamps and Stencils Guest Designer

Hello and I'm thrilled to tell you that today I'm sharing my  Time to Take Flight!  project for the current challenge at Stamps and Stencils as their Guest Designer, as I won their Floral Frenzy challenge in July
As most of the details of my card are on the Stamps and Stencil Blog, I'll just give you a quick run through of what I did.
I started with a piece of Tyvek that had lined my spray box, cut it to size and then used embossing paste through the flourish stencil.  It didn't bother me that the green would bleed through the paste as I didn't want a white flourish!
The butterfly was also stamped onto Tyvek before fussy cutting and layering over a previously stamped image so that I had the antennae showing.  The sentiment was also stamped on Tyvek.
I would like to thank the Design Team for picking my card as a winner and for the invitation to join as a GDT  for this challenge.

Thanks for your visit.

Book Pages

Hello,  time to tell you about the new challenge at Try it on Tuesday which this fortnight is Book Pages.
My book page was distressed and stitched onto a piece of scrap  pink paper, along with a piece of script embossed vellum that was in the bits box.  The printed linen was bought ages ago and this is the first time I've used any, I thought it made a nice base for my little flower arrangement.
DD bought me some lovely wooden frames a while ago, and I gave this one a coat of gesso and some crackle glaze.  Most of the pictures I have are too large to fit inside, so I reduced the size of a Tim Holtz Found Relative picture to fit, and a couple of stamped words to finish.
Can you tell I am trying to use up some more leftovers!
The rest of the DT have some fabulous inspiration for you, so please pop over here, where you will also find all the details.
Thanks for visiting, I do appreciate it and I'm sorry I've been such an absent blogger lately, but sometimes 'real life' gets in the way, but fingers crossed.....

Resist Stamping at FSC

Hello and thanks for visiting, today sees the start of a new challenge at Fashionable Stamping and this time we would like to see  Resist Stamping.  It's up to you what you create, as long as the Resist Stamping technique is visible.
We have Flonzcraft as our sponsor who are offering one lucky winner a $20 spend in their online store.
I've used  Penny Black image Dreamy, stamped in Gold and heat embossed with Gold EP. I then coloured over this with Wilted Violet, Dusty concord, Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey Distress inks and used a script stamp in Dusty Concord, a little wipe with a tissue and any residual ink is removed from the gold embossing.
The card base was inked with the same inks and  script stamping in Wild Honey.
The rest of the DT have some wonderful inspiration for you, so please pop over here, where you will also find the challenge details.

I am entering this at:

Have a great day, whatever you're doing.

Stencils and Masks for Craft Stamper

Hello, and thanks for visiting, today I'm sharing my make as a Guest Designer at Craft Stamper's Take It Make It challenge inspirational post, as I was thrilled to have won their June challenge with this card.  The current challenge  is Stencils and Masks.
I decided to stay in my comfort zone of Vintage and used this lovely lady from Oxford Impressions 'April in Paris'.
I began with a piece of Gessoed textured card and gave it a few coats of Distress Paints and then used Crackle paste through the doily stencil. I highlighted the cracks with Vintage Photo spray and inks and there's also some random background stamping if you look closely.  The base was another piece of textured card, painted with Antique Linen and then some random doily stenciling with Vintage Photo.
Thanks to the DT for picking my card and for inviting me to play along with them.

Leftovers at TioT

Hello, and thanks for popping in today as we start another Challenge at Try it on Tuesday.
Our theme for this fortnight is 'Use Your Leftovers'
Don't know about you, but I have a pile of backgrounds, tags, stamped bits and pieces from 'trying' things,  along with leftovers, and every now and then I sort through and make an effort to use something.
This inked tag has been in the pile for ages, I remember doing it and thinking the colours weren't right for what I was wanting,  I'd embossed the top and bottom with a TH embossing folder, inked it up, probably with Victorian Velvet, Dusty Concord and Tumbled Glass by the looks of it and then 'that was it ' in the pile!
I've stamped Valerie from IndigoBlu onto tissue paper and adhered with matt medium, and added some random script stamping to the background. I added some tiny tatterd roses and some greenery and cut some words from a Tim Holtz stamp.  Then I remembered seeing at the bottom of the pile a white piece of card, stenciled in a pink, so I used the colours I thought were on the tag giving me a matching background to mat and layer onto a card.  All topped off with a bow that was made for something else but turned out too drab - it's surprising how a good wash will lighten the inks.
The rest of the DT have some wonderful inspirations using their leftovers, so please pop over to the main blog where you'll also find all the challenge details.
Thanks for your visit,
Avril xx
