My idea came from the way I felt, I wanted to, and I knew I needed to just let go and do it. I really had fun doing it, but please tell me what you think.
I haven't altered the cover of my Journal yet, but I'm already planning page 2 - after I find a really heavy book to flatten the page out.
I am going to try adding this to the Link over at Brenda's blog ,Bumblebees and Butterflies where she's hosting a blog party to share visual journal inspiration.

I am told it's a very therapeutic form of artwork Avril and reading your post it seems you found t so, I love the fact that it's bright and airy yet has real depth.
See I missed your post below and your Brusho play and particularly like the lilac version. What I love about them is there is no right or wrong way to use them, no two are ever the same and you can make it as intense or as understated as you wish.

Fabulous "letting go" page! As you know, I love my art journals - think I have 5 in various states of fullness, just because I'm fickle and like to vary sizes and paper texture! I love the way the heart is following the butterflies to freedom! Hope you continue to enjoy your journey into art journalling! You may find a thinned down coat of gesso will help with the wrinkling but if you are like me I can't always wait for gesso to dry!!! Hugs, Chrisx
It's a wonderful page, Avril... it has a real sense of new adventures and hope. Lovely combinations of stamping and stencilling.
I sometimes glue wrinkly pages down to the page beneath and flatten that under a heavy book. It's particularly useful when the journal pages are thinner. And I haven't got round to altering any journal covers yet - I suspect it would make working inside them difficult, so it'll have to wait until I've finished one of the many I've got on the go!!

Welcome to journaling Avril, it can be quite fun & addictive. The 3 I do are all via Facebook & I really enjoy doing it & learning new stuff all the time.
I like the image you've used for letting go :-)

Fabulous page Avril. Love all the images and stencils. I've been on the hunt for the little girl one for ages. Glad to see you starting your adventure into journaling. Its good therapy just to go with the flow and enjoy the process. I haven't done covers yet either, waiting until I fill a book, I have a few on the go. look forward to seeing Page 2

Beautiful job with your first ever journal page Avril! I think I may take the plunge soon too! hugs :)
I love this style, but it haven't stepped out of my comfort zone yet to give it a go... I think I have many of the supplies needed, just haven't quite figured out where to begin...
A gorgeous page, love the Banksy images.
This is a wonderful "jump in" piece!! Love your colors and images.....they make me smile! Looks like you had fun here - that is my personal mark of success :-)

How lovely to see you starting your journal and the beginning of a new visual journey for you Avril. Letting go and just creating can be so freeing and for me provides me with the time and opportunity to explore new ideas, techniques and elements of art without the constraints of external demands. I hope you continue to have fun creating for the sheer enjoyment of travelling in a new direction and are excited by your outcomes. Thanks for sharing over at my Visual Journey pages, I am looking forward to seeing what else you create. xxxx
It is lovely.
Hello Avril,
I am also out of my comfort zone with journal pages, but I am encouraging myself along with the support of Brenda to continue to construct them, you have started really well putting down how you feel; this is a good start, I have learnt a little about myself since starting, and it is helping me to think differently, so I am encouraging you to continue as you will be surprised what eventuates. Do not worry about the cover until you complete the journal as it will become messy and spoilt.
Smiles:)
Sue
This is fabulous Avril - as soon as I saw it I knew it was uplifting and inspiring - so I think you acheived your first page very well - a good place to start hugs Judith x
