I started with a gessoed page which I coloured with Antique Linen Oxide ink. I masked off where the photo would go, (this was scanned and reduced in size from the original) and used the Gothic stencil and embossing paste. Some stamping with Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen Distress inks then rubbed over with Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap crayons before adding the photo and some die cut flowers. The words are cut apart from a TH sentiment.
I'm entering this over at A Vintage Journey for this months 4th Birthday Celebrations challenge is Treasure.
We've had some more snow today, but I think it's a little warmer as the icicles are starting to melt. There are still a lot of minor roads closed due to drifting and this picture (from Facebook) was taken about a mile from where I live, a main road into Durham, closed due to overhanging snow!
I'm staying nice and cosy, thank goodness for the early warnings about the 'Beast from the East' and a well stocked fridge/freezer!
Stay safe and have a good weekend.

Oh, my Goodness, Avril! There is some amazing texture on these pages to highlight that fabulous photo (treasure!) Love those pastel flower die cuts to top it off! Sorry you are snowed in, but what better place than in the craft room! Hope you see signs of spring again, soon! PS This would be perfect at the current challenge at A Vintage Journey! Just sayin'! Hugs!
Amazing pages! You created such a beautiful vintage setting for your family photo and I enjoyed learning how you masked off where the photo was to be placed before your stenciling - perfect 😁. Wow, glad to hear they closed the road with that overhanging snow and I think you had the right idea staying inside where it's nice and cosy, me too ...lol 😉. Happy weekend! J 😊
Wonderful journal spread, love the vintage look and the wonderful photo. It snowed here, too,but not so much. Have a nice weekend, hugs, Valerie

Another lovely family photo Avril on this fabulous journal spread . I love the vintage colour tones you used and the stencils look super.
We were hoping to get out today, but its still to deep to get the car out, the youngest brought the supplies in and got to the post office, thank goodness for Land Rovers.
Lets hope the snow starts clearing away soon for us all.

This is beautiful Avril! The texture looks amazing! Wise move to stock up - we shopped today as main roads are clear here now but we too made sure we had enough in the freezer! Pleased the thaw has started! Hugs,Chrisx

Woohoo that's some texture on your pages! Brilliant family photo too. I hope you have had an improvement in the weather where you are....we are still getting snow here but very fine!

So nice to use our own photos on journal pages Avril and it looks so tactile with the embossing, one you want to reach out and touch.

How lovely this is! Beautiful spread indeed.
Our news has told about your snow situation which is rare.
Have a happy upcoming week xx
I love your vintage journal page Avril - what a wonderful photo. (1890s ?? )
Are you into genealogy too? if so I hope you can find out the name of the great aunt oneday.
Our melt started yesterday - it was the first day above zero, day and night :)
The birds look happier already. I see you spoil your Blackbird too and just as well judging by your snowy pictures. I hate to think what this exceptional weather is doing to our wildlife...roll on spring!
I hope its warmer up with you to and the snow going.
Happy Sunday, stay safe and warm........ Gill xx
Beautiful layout and stenciling. It gets extra special and precious as you’ve used a family photo. What a treasure. You could make a book as a keepsake with all these photos.
Avril, you already know how much I love this. I'm so pleased you chose to share it in our current challenge at A Vintage Journey! Hugs!
Wow gorgeous art today Avril. I love the texture you created in the background too. And that's a lot of snow for your world. Especially in March. Hope it warms up and melts soon! Hugs-Erika
Beautiful spread Avril and the photo is such a fantastic memory but as you say it's such a shame that you didn't know her name.
I have only a few photos from my mum's stash as when she died I was the last in the family to pick photos, most had gone, but lucky enough the ones I did get she had written on the back of which was a huge help. This in turn made me write on the back of some of my gorgeous (non digital) photos.

Wonderful page Avril. I love what you did with the stencil, almost looks like one of those coffee stained effects. Great texture and the flowers are a lovely touch of colour. Wow, so much snow! I can't believe how much snow you have, and here in Canada, not a single bit of white! hugs :)
What a lovely journal spread Avril! how wonderful to be able to use a treasured family photo on them. The soft colors and stenciling accents it perfectly! thanks for joining us in the AVJ Treasure challenge! Julia xx
