'Mum's the Word' is the new challenge a Try it on Tuesday for this fortnight, so there's lots of ideas for this one - Mother's Day, quotes for Mothers/Families and I'm sure you can think of a few more.
I've been going through old family photos lately and I've got some lovely photos of my Mum so I thought I'd do something using one, I think she must have been about 18 in this one.
I've used a box frame that I'd had for ages, I used embossing paste through the TH Flourish stencil and when it was dry I painted with Brushed Pewter Distress paint, and then when that was dry I painted over with Black Soot paint and rubbed that off before it was dry.
I used embossing paste with the TH Rose stencil with paste when dry, I used Tattered Rose and Antique Linen DIs to colour the backing piece. I did think about a darker vintage colour but as my Mum never wore dark colours, I kept to that theme. I reapplied the stencil and coloured the roses with Oxides. I also stamped the TH Linen Background and some extra rose stencilling with Antique Linen.
I've used bits of ephemera underneath the photo, although some have ended up being hidden, and added a calendar for April, her birthday month. Lots of flowers were added as my Mum and Dad were very keen gardeners.
The rest of the team have some great inspiration for you, so please pop over to the main blog where you will also find all the challenge details.
Well, I'm pleased to say the snow is disappearing fast, and life is getting back to normal. It's lovely to see the Snowdrops and Spring bulbs again, all we need now is some sunshine!
Have a great day,
Avril xx
