Embossed rose

Another play with my new 3D Embossing folder, it makes a lovely card for friends not into inky stuff.
I cut the card wider than the EF  to give room to stamp the sentiment, after embossing I did some 2nd generation stamping with the music script, but it came out darker than I wanted, and as we crafters can't throw anything away, I salvaged it by giving it a watery coat of gesso, much more subtle!
I used gilding wax on the rose and leaves, although it's difficult to see the soft sheen.  The sentiment was stamped with Seedless Preserves Oxide before heat embossing with clear EP.

After thinking Spring is just around the corner, we woke up to a couple of inches of snow this morning, and DD phoned to say she couldn't get out of her village and the next village at the bottom of the hill was cut off too!  Our snow is melting as it's been very sunny, so hopefully this is just a blip!!

Snowdrops for Tag Tuesday

To me Snowdrops always mean that Spring is just around the corner, the nights will start getting lighter and Mother Nature is slowly waking up.  So when I saw the theme at Tag Tuesday this time was Spring is in the Air,  I dug out this old Elusive Images (now Chocolate Baroque) stamp.

Stamped with Versafine Clair and heat embossed with clear EP, it was then given a watery wash of Old Paper DI and them some watery splatters with Twisted Citron DI before I coloured the leaves.

The snowdrops in my garden are always a welcome sight on a dreary day.

Hearts for AJJ

I've a page to share at  Art Journal Journey where this months theme chosen by Elizabeth is Hearts.
My main colours for this page are Mustard Seed and Seedless Preserves using various stencils, before I stamped the Banksy type girl from Inkylicious in black.  I used Red Archival ink for the heart shaped balloon and adding some words.

A short post as I'm making the most of some much needed crafty time.

Go Green or Recycle Something at Try it on Tuesday

It's time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday and for this fortnight we would like you to
'Go Green'  -  and we are giving you the choice to either use the colour green or recycle.

I've made a card base that uses Sea green Brushos and stamped my flower image in black. I also stamped the flower again on white card, fussy cut and used Lucky Clover DI on the tiny dots part of the  Lotza Dotz stencil before adding to my flower.

If you're not into the colour green, you may like to recycle.  I was recently given this plain grey gift bag,  so with a little help from an Anna Marie mini stencil and some white embossing paste, along with some turquoise sparkly gems, I've given it a new lease of life.

Whatever you chose, it would be lovely if you joined in the fun at Try it on Tuesday and if you need some extra inspiration the DT have some great ideas for you, so please pop over to the main blog.

Thanks for calling in,
Have a great day, Avril x

Lady in Red

It's DIL's birthday this week and I waned to do something feminine, so inked up my neglected Runway Girls.  The background card was already embossed and at the bottom of the 'background' box, so I sprinkled on some Rose Red Brushos and did some second generation background stamping.  My 'girl' was stamped and coloured with DIs and layered over a piece of mop up paper.  It's a while since I added flowers, but as it was being hand delivered I used the Tim Holtz Tiny Tattered roses and Garden Greens dies.

I am going to enter this at Stamping Sensations where this months challenge is Feminine and also at Allsorts  Challenge where this weeks theme is Dies and /or Punches.

Hope you're staying safe this weekend as Storm Dennis approaches, I must say it's not as bad here as I expected - hope I haven't spoken too soon.

Wine Does That!

It's a while since I played along at Tag Tuesday, but this fortnights theme of  Black White and Red was perfect as I needed to make a bottle tag and wanted to use this very old Stamps Happen image, along with some stamped 'wine words'.

I've masked off the words that are included on the stamp, and usually I mask off the cigarette -  it was only when the tag was finished that I realised I'd had a memory lapse!!

I'm also going to enter this at Stamping Sensations 'Feminine' Challenge

Thanks for calling in and I hope you're all staying safe indoors while this horrible storm rages.

Share the Love at Try it on Tuesday

It's time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday and because February is the 'month of love'
we're asking you to Share the Love with your projects this time,  be it Valentine, Wedding/Anniversary or Engagement.

I've made an Anniversary card using the new Tim Holtz 3D Rose embossing folder.  After embossing I used Antique Linen DI to randomly stamp a script in the background,  shade the rose and the background.  Although it's difficult to see, I also highlighted the raised areas of the rose with gold wax which compliments the gold embossed sentiment.

The rest of the DT have some fabulous inspiration for you, so please pop over to the main blog, where you will also find all the challenge details.

Thanks for calling in,
Avril xx
